Search Engine Optimization - Penalty Check

I have seen this subject all too many times. Sometimes people think they are penalized when in fact they just have a poorly designed web site. Here is what to do:

• 1) Pick out a uniques phrase from your website. Run it through a google search. If there are more then 30 returns i.e. 1 out of 868, and you are located in the SERP at less then 30, most likely you are NOT being penalized.
• 2) Pick out a keyword phrase from your website. Run it through a google search. Now select advanced search. Add your website to the with the exact words. such as www.yoursite.com . Now where do you come up? If there are greater then 30 returns and again you are less then 30, most likely you are NOT penalized.
